Brintesia circe (Fabricius, 1775)

Type locality: "Europa" [Germany]

Range: All Europe, including Crimea, and the Caucasus.

Habitat: Steppe habitats up to 2,000 mtrs.

Flight Period: June to September

Note: The males emerge some days before the females and where as the males are easily found in meadows, the females are exclusively found under the shade of trees, especially Quercus sp.
