Range: From the Crimea across the Caucasus and north of the Middle East to Iran; from the S. Urals across Kazakhstan to the S. Altai and W. Siberia
Habitat: Dry stony habitats up to 1,800mtrs
Flight Period: June to August

ssp. persephone - (= anthe Ochsenheimer, 1807; = caucasica Nordmann, 1851); the S. European part, the Caucasus Major and Minor, the S. Altai, W. Siberia, Crimea, Kazakhstan;
ssp. pseudoenervata Lukhtanov, 1999 - Kazakhstan Ust-Kamenogorsk-Gebiet, Süd-Altai, Kurtschum-Gegend, Burabai, 600 m.
ssp. transiens Zerny, 1932 - the Armenian Highland, Talysh, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia.
Form: A colour form with ochreous-red bands is known under the name of hanifa (Herrich-Schaffer, 1850).
