Satyrinae of the Western Palearctic

Lasiommata petropolitana (Fabricius, 1787)

Type locality: Petrograd - Russia

Range: Higher Mountain ranges of S. Europe from Pyrenees through Central Alps to Carpathian Mts., Balkans, Corfu & N. Greece, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Latvia & Estonia. Absent from Spain, Andorra, Denmark, Italy, S. Greece.

Habitat: Grassy bushy, often small clearings in deciduous woodland  between 200 – 1,500mtrs.  On Corfu it is found close to the sea.

Flight Period: Early June – late July.
