Type locality: South Europe & Algeria
Range: N. Africa, entire Europe, Turkey, Israel, Syria, Transcaucasus, S. & C. Urals. Not reported from Rhodes.
Habitat: Deciduous, coniferous and mixed woodland. In hot localities in South Europe it is often associated with tree lined rivers or small streams.
Flight Period: Late February to mid November.
