Pseudochazara graeca (Staudinger, 1870)
Type locality: Mt. Parnassus and Taygetos Mts. [Greece]
Range: Mt. Parnassos, Mt. Olympus, Mt. D’rfis, Mt. Chelmos, Mt. Panakhaikon, Mt. Menalon, Mt. Mainalo, Mt. Taygetos, North Pindos Mts (Katara Pass) - Greece, Pelister massive - Macedonia.
Habitat: Grassy places on mountain tops above or at the tree line between 1,000 – 2,200 mtrs.
Flight Period: mid July to late August
Forms:
f. apollo (Gross, 1978) – Mt. Chelmos;
f. coutsisi (Brown, 1977) = zagoriensis (Aussem , 1978) - Smolikas massiv. Timfi Mts. and Katara Pass;
f. graeca (Staudinger, 1870) – Mt. Parnassos, Mt. Timfrstos;
f. pelops (Gross, 1978) – Mt. Taygetos.
Note: Following Hristos T. Anastassiu , John G. Coutsis & Nikos Ghavalas in <<New data regarding the geographical distribution of Pseudochazara graeca in Greece, with notes about its wing coloration, the status of its ssp. coutsisi (= zagoriensis), as well as the supposed correlation between the HW underside ground colour and the geological character of the habitat in both P. graeca and Hyponephele lycaon (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae, Satyrinae)>> all named subspecies of P. graeca have been downgraded to forms.
